We’re all from the days that liner notes were so important to us. When we got the latest album of our favourite band or singer, we poured over the liner notes and lyrics. In the era of online music, we wanted to have a spot where we could share some of the writer’s thoughts and of course the actual lyrics of our songs. Hope you enjoy them!

I’m Just another Number

I’ve heard about a shooting star

Feels like we will never make it back

And I need to be amongst the crowd

To lead a life of reason

We hear the problems of the day

Never thinking about tomorrow

So gorgeous we put them on a cover

So much pride in our home

I’m just another number

They steer us like we’re cattle

Never to see tomorrow

I’m still stuck on today

It’s in their sweet songs

But every time the wind blows

I hear something far away

Could it be another rainbow?

We all swim together

Even if the skies not clear

We wait for another day

Who will pave the way?

I’m just another number

They steer us like we’re cattle

Never to see tomorrow

I’m still stuck on today

Strawberry Bay

I’m sitting here all alone

Waiting till my time is done

Got side tracked along the way

Never really knowing what to say

Woke up on this day

Frustrated and searching

Gotta be a better way

Even if it’s just today

Sitting and watching the day

As the people slowly pass my way

Everyone’s got a story to say

Like a ship that’s rollin away

Came home from Strawberry Bay

Heading for the door

I had nothin’ to love for

Til I saw the news today

On a hot and sunny day

Seeing the tide wash away

Hoping I won’t be a lone

It’s time to go back home

Sitting and watching the day

As the people slowly pass my way

Everyone’s got a story to say

Like a ship that’s rollin’ away

Nothing Lasts Forever

Went down to the corner store

I said can you please help me

Can you tell me

Where a man should start

He said I really can’t tell you

Cause I’m searching for something more

But I know there’s someplace for you

You just have to walk the walk

Nothing lasts forever

Funny how things can change

Nothing lasts forever

And that’s how it has to be

Picked up my bags and,

I went to see a friend

He said don’t you worry

Cause everything will be okay.

I said can’t anyone tell me

Why things can be so hard

He said that’s the way it is is

Learn to leave something on guard

Nothing lasts forever

Funny how things can change

Nothing lasts forever

And that’s how it has to be

Go down to see Miss Lacey

Was all he really said

You gotta make this right

It was the last that he said.

I don’t know where to find it

Or how it’s really made

All I know is it’s what I need

To make a better day.

Nothing lasts forever

Funny how things can change

Nothing lasts forever

And that’s how it has to be

My Rock n Roll dream

Oh, my brother

Tell me a story

Can’t you tell me what to do

Is there a cure for a young mans dreams?

Then I wake up from this crazy dream

Reality sometimes ain’t what it seems

You get all built up inside

On what you think it should be

Oh, my darling

I can see you looking at me

I can get you everything you need

If I stay in your arms

Help me live this Rock n Roll dream

Let me see what I want to be

It’s my Rock n roll dream

 Everything I want to be

Oh, my mother

You have built too many rules

And everybody knows

That it won’t last

Oh, my son

Going to show you just how it’s done

Don’t listen to what they say

Just get on with it and play

Help me live this Rock n Roll dream

Let me see what I want to be

It’s my Rock n roll dream

Everything I want to be

Cattle

We came to meet an icon

How could I be so wrong

So many things I would like to say

Maybe it’s really not my day

Being swept away like cattle

Commonly raised as livestock

Movable personal property

It’s how they want you to be

I’m not just another face in the crowd

Here my voice and see I’m proud

Waiting until everyone can see

Maybe that is how it has to be

Working steers for a better yield

Wondering how anyone can feel

A unit of personal property

A maverick for all to see

A critter now becoming archaic

So please don’t say it

Lowing to a territorial call

So, catch me before I fall

No one really knows what to say

It’s not just another day

This is how they want you to be

Conform then you can be free.

Animal Connections

Like a deer moving through life

Avoiding obstacles with grace

Moving through different life cycles

Beware of the dark side of things

Lie a fox’s cunning

Seeing through deception

A driving force that

Carries you through life

Connections with nature’s spirit

Being on the lookout for dangers & deceits

The balance between

Instinct and personality

The hawk is the messenger

Through the spirit world

Take the lead when the time is right

The power to see with clear vision

The bears strength and confidence

The importance of solitude

Looking at the eagle for healing

Healing from the inside out

Connections with nature’s spirit

Being on the lookout for dangers & deceits

The balance between

Instinct and personality

Wait ’til It’s Your Turn

Baby I want your number

Then I can text you anytime

Baby I want your number

Then I can text you anytime

Don’t leave me hanging

You can always find someone new

This old man can love you

And give you what you need

This old man can love you

And give you what you need

I don’t mean any harm

Let me show you who I am

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m still learning who I am

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m happy with who I am

I was around when you were young

Played every little place

I was around when you were young

Played every little place

So, lean your head on me

And we’ll make it through another day

I don’t want you to trade me

Grass is never greener

I don’t want you to trade me

Grass is never greener

This little soul can rock you

Just wait till it’s your turn

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m still learning who I am

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m happy with who I am

You can leave anytime you want

No one here gonna stand in your way

You can leave anytime you want

No one here gonna stand in your way

I think it’s you who needs to change

Cause I’m doing just fine

I know things have changed in the world

But that’s no reason to question me

I know things have changed in the world

But that’s no reason to question me

I have what I need

Now it’s time to walk away

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m still learning who I am

I don’t want anyone to change me

I’m happy with who I am

Leap of Faith (9th album)
1)    Even
Even in my darkest moments
You were there to shine a light
We all have thoughts of sorrow
Let me come in from the cold

Even when the sun won’t shine
You’ll be there to listen to me
May I come into your world
And bring you some more Love

Even in the darkest night
I’ll be there to shine a light
Even if we fall
Even if we never make it at all

Don’t let the sun go away
Even if they’re not listening
I go to sleep and create a dream
Where I become a star

You can ask for the moon
But you get what you pay for

In this random chance
Of a world that we live in

Even in the darkest night
I’ll be there to shine a light
Even if we fall
Even if we never make it at all

{{ — break — }}

Your laughter brings me warmth
But still I feel like someone new
I’ll go and hide and get high
Won’t you come into my world

Even in the darkest night
I’ll be there to shine a light
Even if we fall
Even if we never make it at all

Even in the darkest night
I’ll be there to shine a light
Even if we fall
Even if we never make it at all

–    A song from the film, The Tablet. This song is used for the end of the film for the credits.
–    This song was how I felt going into finishing up filming my first full length feature and knowing that it may not make it and I may get critiqued for having had gone through it. You can never please everyone in life so a good place to begin with for me anyways, is by pleasing myself. Working hard and doing my best with what I can and moving forward. Nothing is perfect. The best I can do is be the best ME that I can.

2)    Excuse me
Excuse me — if I take a moment of your time
But it’s my whole life
Excuse me — if I reach for an answer
To one o’ life’s mysteries

Excuse me — on this day
The sun is shining bright
Excuse me — if I question something
Why is there pain in the world

{{ instrumental break }}}

Excuse me — oooh, for a moment
I’ll shed some light where it’s needed
Excuse me — if I didn’t take the time
To tell you how much I care

Excuse me — for my life
It was made in such a way
Excuse me — if I don’t understand
          The reasons why

{{ instrumental break }}}

Excuse me — if I take a moment of your time
But it’s my whole life
Excuse me — if I reach for an answer
To one o’ life’s mysteries

Excuse me — again and again and again
Only if you can
Excuse me — oooh, my friend
But you missed it again

–    Also in the film, The Tablet. Originally written to use with a drum solo in live shows.
–    Special guest lead guitar by Henderson Howell
–    I wrote this song with some annoyance in wanting people to pay attention in some way. Everyone has their worlds and things going on and all I can ask is a moment of their time and accept that reality.

3)    The Daytime
Like the sweet, sweet smell o’ the ocean
Another day begins

And he’s still headin’ down those tracks
Any day now

{{ — break — }}

Some days it’s like one step forward
And two steps back

Gettin’ things done in the daytime
Waiting for the night to come
Waiting for the night to come

{{ — break — }}

When the nighttime falls, I begin to feel alright
Knowing I’m alive an well
And best of all, it’s with you, it’s with you
And best of all, it’s with you, it’s with you
    © Letourneau 2017

–    Used in the film, The Tablet. This song was originally put together three albums ago and never found the right place. Judy Letourneau, suggested to take out the drums from the original track and an acoustic version grew out of it.
–    It’s another song that I was looking at the positive side of life. We all have challenges to face and the best we can do is move forward. Even on days where it’s one step back. Some roads are curved and others seem straight. The highway is best travelled with someone special. Life is meant to be experienced.

4)    Working man blues
Now when I was young
My Grampa always told me
Now when I was young
My Grandaddy always told me

Ain’t nothin’ easy in this life
And nothing comes for free

Things may seem easy from afar
Then you’ll know down, deep inside
Things may seem easy from afar
Then you’ll know down, deep inside

You’ll soon learn that there’s more,
More… than meets the eye

—LEAD BREAK —

I took the train through the city
Workin’ just to pay the bills
I took the train through the city
Oooh, just to pay the bills

Taking the shame and the pain, it’s okay
‘cause we’re all the same

When the man, he calls,
There’s no way you can run
When the man, yeah he calls,
There’s no way you can run

You gotta stand up for what’s right
Nothin’ comes without a fight

I took the train through the city
Workin’ just to pay the bills
I took the train through the city
Oooh, just to pay the bills

Takin’ the shame and the pain, it’s okay
‘cause we’re all the same

–    The last three albums have included a blues song. This is the latest.
–    I began this song with an ode to my late grand father, Albert Bellefeuille. He was a hard working entrepreneur. He always worked and had a large family. He had his ways and he was a good family man. I hold some great memories of him and I. This song deals with some of the frustrations and the anxiety that life can present to us.

5)    Hope for the best

I feel the sun shining
Down on me
I feel the wind and the rain
Just dreaming of another day

I’m not one of those
Who is always blind
Just wanted to see you
Maybe we give it a try

Hope for the best, plan for the worst
Hope for the best, plan for the worst
I’m alone tonight

But the heart knows
Just give me one more reason
You’re by my side
And I’ll know why

Where in the world
Do you expect me to see
A perfect place
With nowhere to hide

{{ CHORUS }}

Always for something better
There will come a day
When it doesn’t matter even
If you’re old and grey

Everyone, they want
To be happy and free
No one in the world
Is without any pain

{{ CHORUS }}

–    One day when I was talking with my wife Judy, I must have been worried about something. Words of wisdom or some good advice came out and I was smart enough to write down what she said. “Hope for the best, plan for the worst.”
–    Special guest Lead guitarist Henderson Howell

6)    Here I go around again

Every time I stand and watch the sun
Trying to understand so I can go on

      Never need a reason why
I can’t just let the days go by

When I think back to that day
All I can do is say…

That is shattered my heart
And there’s not much left to say

Here I go around again
Never knowin’ where to begin
I never wanted a broken heart
Here I go around again, again…

When I think back to that day
All I can do is say
That it shattered my heart
          So much more to say

                Here I go around again
Never knowin’ where to begin
I never wanted a broken heart
Here I go around again, again…

Feel the sun upon your face
Like the wind and rain
You can never choose it
Until it gives you pain

Here I go around again
Never knowin’ where to begin
I never wanted a broken heart
Here I go around again!

    Here I go around again
Never knowin’ where to begin
I never wanted a broken heart
Here I go around again, again, again…
    © Letourneau 2017

–    Again I was inspired by a Chris Cornell song by something he said at the end of one of his songs. I guess the song spoke to me and I wrote and continuation of my feelings about it. I guess I was again complaining in a positive way of course.

7)    La la song

It was a dark and stormy night
Never thought I’d see the light
Had a long way to go
Before I could make
my way back home

La la la la la
la la la la
La la la… la…

La la la la la
La la la la la
La la la… la…

It wasn’t mean to be
But I had to find out
for myself
Ain’t it funny how it ends
Before it ends,
it will come around again

{{{ CHORUS }}}

Best not to go alone
Stay here by the phone
was all she said
I wish I wasn’t here
Bet you can smell the fear,
it’s that clear

{{{ CHORUS }}}

          Even with the rain overhead
It’s still sunny and warm in my world
If you’ve been hurt before
Then we’ll make it all better, come and play

With blood stains on his hands
Never again will he live through that again

{{{ CHORUS }}}
© Letourneau 2017

–    The title track from the film, The Tablet. The la la part was originally written in as a substitute for better words. Sometimes simple expressions or slurs are used to substitute for words until phrases can be chosen for new songs. In this case, la la la la just seemed to work best.
–    This song was also used in a music video for Ovarian Cancer Canada 2017

8)    Leap of faith

Where in the world did you expect me to see
A perfect place where we all want to be
All everyone wants is to be happy and free
No one in the world is without any pain

A landscape of dreams
And a leap, a leap of faith
Walked away with pride
And that’s how I feel inside

You and I shouldn’t play in their game
Gimme one more minute of your precious time
Pride of the day it helps wash it away
My head’s still heavy and my heart is still clear

Well, you and I shouldn’t play in their game
Give me one more minute of your precious time
Pride of the day it helps wash it away
My head’s still heavy and my heart is still clear

A landscape of dreams
And a leap, a leap of faith
Walked away with pride
And that’s how I feel inside

– LEAD –

A landscape of dreams
And a leap, a leap of faith
Walked away with pride
And that’s how I feel inside

A landscape of dreams
And a leap, a leap of faith
    Walked away with pride
And that’s how I feel inside
    © Letourneau 2017

–    Another song from the film, The Tablet. It’s the title track for the album. This song represents the decision to go ahead even though the eventual outcome is not known and a leap into unknown waters.
–    This song actually sat in the unknown pile for the longest time. From it peculiar rhythm we shelved the song and until one day we decided to give it a second chance. We re worked the song and gave it more of a reggae or groove feel and that seemed to work better for this song.

9)    Can’t afford to quit

Welcome, welcome to our little play
We’re so glad… you’re here to stay
Filled with dreamers… and schemers
Aren’t we all… just the same

Welcome, welcome to our hey day
Before this day… is gone away
We’ll try to scream, and shake… scream, and shake
Ooooh, it’s all . I . can . take

Ah, can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit
Ooooh, can’t avoid the pit
Oh yeah… can’t afford to quit

Welcome, welcome to our native land
Paid our dues ’n we’re used to just the same
But that’s how the story goes
Train wrecks and pit falls — hey what did you expect?

Welcome, welcome to another season
Never really did catch your name
That’s okay, ‘cause they’re all the same
Gave them everything, and yet they still complain

Ah, we can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit
Ooooh, can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit

{{ — break — }}

If we could all just get along
Stop singin’ the same old songs
At least we’re not like them
Living with regret… ooh, and still with no respect

Ah, we can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit
Ooooh, can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit

Ah, we can’t avoid the pit
Mmm… can’t afford to quit

–    Another song from the film, The Tablet. Everyone at some point in life has this option where working for a living is real.

10)    It’s that feeling inside

You can wake up in the morning
Or the middle of the night
But that won’t change a thing
Cause y’all know it’s all the same

It’s a feeling in your heart
That you can’t put aside
And no matter what you say
You know you just can’t hide

It’s that feeling inside

{pause}Even after the years go by
{pause}You can hear them cry
But you know it won’t change a thing

Till you push for the ring

It’s a feeling inside

Even on a bad day
When someone’s telling you
What they think to do
But you know it’s all the same

There will come a day
Where you won’t have to stay
You can stand your own
And you’ll never be alone

It’s that feeling inside
          © Letourneau 2018

–    I was exploring the idea of communicating with that inner self that everyone deals with. I had a line, ‘till you push for the ring’. Was actually a reference to one of my favourite football players, Tom Brady. It’s that feeling of doing your job and working as a team. In the end, your success or your trophy for that success is that ring from the super bowl. It’s a symbol for your success and all your hard work.

11)    Give me that

I’ve been trying to reach you
But there is no one at home
Just a little space between us
Is all we’re asking for

If you expect me to be
So perfect for all to see
What if tomorrow
Has it’s way with us

            Give me that freedom
Give me a seat up front
  Give me another chance
Give me that feeling again (and again)

It’s not like you to be sorry
Unless you say it again
Walk a mile in my shoes
Then we’ll see whose singing the blues

We have been sailing
Travelling through time
Let’s hope tomorrow brings
A better way to live our lives

Give me that freedom
Give me a seat up front
  Give me another chance
Give me that feeling again (and again)

Give me that freedom
Give me a seat up front
  Give me another chance
Give me that feeling again (and again)
  © Letourneau 2018

–    I was inspired by a Geddy Lee song from his solo album and I wanted to take it one step further.

   “Ten – 10” (Our 10th album)

1)    Thunderstorm

I could sit here all night
Watch the lightning
and wait for the rain

It makes my body tired
And my mind feel safe

Feel the raindrops
Rolling down my face
The rolling thunder
Filling you with wonder

I like to see the lightning
I like to hear the thunder
I love to see the falling rain
Just like all of our lives

The heavenly
drums are pounding
And gently like tears of rain

When everyone around you
Seem to have everything
under control

Every drop of rain
Like music in my brain
See the clouds rolling by
Like the years flashing by

I like to see the lightning
I like to hear the thunder
I love to see the falling rain
Just like all of our lives
    © Letourneau 2018

–    Originally written during a storm. I had the idea of the disco beat as I listened to the storm approaching. All these different sounds and lights from the lightning. I kept thinking of how our lives are just the same. Unpredictable and sometimes very bright and scary moments. Chuck suggested a nice pink Floyd sound for his guitar that worked out perfectly. I asked Tony to build a nice intro on Keyboards that we could use to open a show with.
–    On the day when we began filming the video for this song a massive tornado actual hit very close to where we were. The lead singer Tony and I were by the Ottawa River filming some scenes for the video as the storm approached. We came back to my house and filmed the lighting and the storm from my backyard. Footage is used in the music video.

2)    Ordinary Man

I’m just an ordinary man
Too many years flew by
      Never knowing the reason why
That was the man I used to be

I used to stand so tall
Now I’m just waiting to fall
How foolish I was
Can’t you see how much I care

There’s no making sense of this
With everything we face
There’s not much we can do
Too many roads to choose

Too much love can kill you
Not enough will haunt you
Torn between disaster and worry
But that’s how it has to be

I’m just an ordinary man

No one ever told me
Who I am supposed to be
With this fragile state of mind
And I wish I could find the time

Seems all I ever do is bring you down
Still it seems you want me around
You’re the victim of your own crime
Still it happens all the time

I used to bring you flowers
To show how much I care
Too much space between us
Not sure if you’re really there

Too much love can kill you
Not enough will haunt you
Torn between disaster and worry
But that’s how it has to be

I’m just an ordinary man
  © Letourneau 2018

–    One of the easier songs to write but very difficult to live through. Some songs take maybe five to ten minutes to write because the passion or emotion from the event is so powerful that it almost writes itself and this is one of those songs. Hearing Tony sing it one day almost put me into tears because the memory and feelings are so deep.
–    This is my favourite song from the double album release. It’s a song we are playing acoustically at the cd release party for the double album release.
–    After a series surgery, I had time to reflect on where I had been, where I was and where I was going.

3)    We can still believe

I’ve been up and down this lonely road
Same as before
Then comes that call
You knew it would come

If there’s one thing I know
I hate to see you crying
No more bad news at the door
Cause I’m on the floor

This ain’t no place for a rising star
This ain’t no place for a hustler’s role
This ain’t no place for a human soul
It’s where the devil collects his tole

Can’t live in the past
Even if they say we won’t last
No more wishing for tomorrow
For it may never come

And if you believe
We can still make a change
Limited is our time
We can still believe

This ain’t no place for a rising star
This ain’t no place for a hustler’s role
This ain’t no place for a human soul
It’s where the devil collects his toll
It’s where the devil collects his toll
It’s where the devil collects his toll
It’s where the devil collects his toll
  © Letourneau 2018

–    Another song that was inspired by my time at the hospital before surgery. I was in a giant hallway on a roll away bed and one of the surgeons came out to talk to me. I asked why some people came out and came in from the same side but some people were been taken out the other end of the hall. He said, that way was where the morgue was and the other leads back into the post surgery area. I looked back at the door leading to the morgue and in the corner beside the door was a dark corner and all I could think was, “ It’s where the Devil collects his tole”.

4)    Serving my Soul

Solutions to everyone’s problems
His intentions knowing the possible outcomes
I can hear the voices inside of my head
Can’t mistake ooh what they say to me

Once becomes four times a day
What will be ooh enough to get me by
Addictions that lead to consequence
Suicide is not the only solution

Self medication in an addict’s world
Getting high or just getting by
It’s never planned
It’s just a result of your actions

It’s hard to exist for ever
Standards for your neighbours
Serving my soul or just the song

Live to tell it from my side
Love to tell it from my side
Standards for your neighbours
Serving my soul or just the song

BREAK

It’s hard to exist for ever
Standards for your neighbours
Serving my soul or just the song

Live to tell it from my side
Love to tell it from my side
Standards for your neighbours
Serving my soul or just the song
    © Letourneau 2018

–    A song written about the suicide death of Chris Cornell and the idea of suicide.
–    The song also features Robs first time doing a lead on a song.
–    Tony plays keys and vocals, Rob is playing drums, rhythm guitar and lead guitar.

5)    Suitcase full of goodies

You take the water from the river
The trees from the mountains
Take the rain from the sky
And they still don’t know why

You see the lightning in the sky
You take the seeds from the forest
You’ll reach the point of no return
Until it’s your turn

I’ve got a suitcase full o’ goodies
I’ve got a spirit built up inside
I don’t wanna hear you say,
I don’t wanna hear you say
It never goes away

I see the shadows in the sky
I ride the wind until I’m high
You got people talkin’ in riddles
And preachers promising pride

You better run and hide
You’ll see the stars in the sky
You may never even know
Why, then you’ll pray to the sky

I’ve got a suitcase full o’ goodies
I’ve got a spirit built up inside
I don’t wanna hear you say,
I don’t wanna hear you say
It never goes away

I’ve got a suitcase full o’ goodies
I’ve got a spirit built up inside
I don’t wanna hear you say,
I don’t wanna hear you say
It never goes away
It never goes away
It never goes away
It never goes away

–    Another song written during the time at the hospital
– This was the thing that you never wanted to hear the doctor say
–    Something I guess you just have to live through it but your glad to be on the other side.

6)    True Love

I remember like it was yesterday
All those feelings and nowhere to go
I wish I could go back in time
To see what I missed

And now I’m getting so much older
We can’t fight this feeling any longer
And somehow we made it through
I’m so glad I made it with you

This reminds me of my true love
Playing music and having fun
Time passing with all this stuff
Waiting for my favourite song
on the radio

Now these days it’s all around
Everybody plays with no real sound
It’s like we’re back on fifth avenue
With nowhere to go

This reminds me of my true love
Playing music and having fun
Time passing with all this stuff
Waiting for my favourite song
on the radio

I remember on the school bus
Yelling and singing we didn’t care much
Now after all is said and done
I would do it all again

No money and a couple of friends
Time felt like it would never end
Still with nowhere to go
But I still had my true love

This reminds me of my true love
Playing music and having fun
Time passing with all this stuff
Waiting for my favourite song

This reminds me of my true love
Playing music and having fun
Time passing with all this stuff
Waiting for my favourite song
on the radio

–    Inspired by a Kid Rock song.
–    This was a song that we had kicking around for a long time. We used to jam out the chords and the structure before we had any lyrics on it, then eventually we put lyrics that I had around on them.

7)    Fools Gold

See it glisten, see it glisten
See it shine, see it shine
It’s everyone’s dream
Just not what it seems

Another quest ahead,
dreams of gold to be fed
As we pass through time,
treasures still left to find
They’re still left to find…

It’s nothing but fools gold
This is what you should do
Believe in what we do
It was made for me and you

Hurry up just to wait in line
Everything will be just fine
Maybe we can conform
To some corporate uniform
It’s a race against time,
don’t forget to shine
All I can ever be,
is be happy and free
Just be happy and free…

It’s nothing but fools gold
This is what you should do
Believe in what we do
It was made for me and you

–    Special guest lead guitar Henderson Howell
–    This song is about the music industry and what we are seeing in today’s world. All these dreams and aspirations of being a rockstar and being rich. When in fact, we make pennies for our art. It’s basically fools Gold.

8)    Just let it go

When I was younger than today
Too many things to share
Not just unaware
But willing to give in

It kept me up last night
Hoping everything will be alright
You knew it wouldn’t last
But that’s just the way it goes

Just let it go
Just let it go

If I could do it all again
What would I change
So many problems in life
Scares that feel just like a knife

If I could change my way
And re-live every day
Would it be any different
That what it’s like today

We all have those days
Easier said than done
When there’s nowhere to run
Can it be replayed

So just let go
Just let it go
Just let it go

–    I think it was Kellie who first suggested that we place harmonica on a song. One day in the studio, I decided to try a track of it on top of what we were recording at the time. The track seem to really fit so the scratch take track was the one used throughout the recording.
– Playing drums and playing the harmonica at the same time has been a challenge.

9)    Searching for a reason

Make up    another resolution
Cause this one just ain’t right
Think I’ll    try out this one
They have me believe it’s fun

Looking    for who has the right
Can we do it without a fight
Find a    silly new situation
Never seems to end up right

I’m searching for a reason why
Looking for a way to smile
Looking for a way to shine
Then everything will be alright

I’m searching for a reason why
Looking for a way to smile
Looking for a way to shine
Then everything will be alright

{{{ Lead Hook }}}

With this    heart of mine
Looking for clues in life
Living it    like there is no end
Burning it ’til it’s time

Running through    another stage
It’s our revolution
Find another solution

I’m searching for a reason why
Looking for a way to smile
Looking for a way to shine
Then everything will be alright

I’m searching for a reason why
Looking for a way to smile
Looking for a way to shine
Then everything will be alright

–    This may be the second time around that I have actually used the same name for two completely different Black Cherry songs and albums. The previous one was raeggae style and this one is easy rock.

10)    I’m stuck again

So I guess it was year ago
I was standing on my own
No worries and looking
Looking for somewhere to go

Then things got worse
I was set out of the crowd
Looking for answers
Guess you know the tune

Looks like my hands are full
And all I really know
There’s got to be a tomorrow
I guess I’m stuck again

Looks like my hands are full
And all I really know
There’s got to be
a Tomorrow

The man from the magazine
Said I’d lost my way
Looks like my plan fell through
I ran out of songs to play

Riding on a greyhound
See all the houses passing by
Knowing I’m not alone
Someone’s gonna be by my side

Looks like my hands are full
And all I really know
There’s got to be a tomorrow
I guess I’m stuck again

Looks like my hands are full
And all I really know
There’s got to be
a Tomorrow

–    This was the last song written and recorded on this album. It was put together at the last minute and was not originally going to be on this album but it seemed to move right along and in the end was ready so I kept it in the mix.

11)    The reason why
I was travelling ‘round the bend
When I had this feeling
I don’t know where I’m going
But I sure do know where I’ve been

Some days you may not have choices
But the voices still call out your name
Passion is just an emotion
Something that’s just passing you by

Ooo-eee, I can feel the sun
Ooo-eee, I can see the sky
Ooo-eee, never knowing the reason why
And if you see that train a-coming
Better stop and wave goodbye

I was travelling ‘round the bend
When I had this feeling
I don’t know where I’m going
But I sure do know where I’ve been

Some days you may not have choices
But the voices still call out your name
Passion is just an emotion
Something that’s just passing you by

Ooo-eee, I can feel the sun
Ooo-eee, I can see the sky
Ooo-eee, never knowing the reason why
And if you see that train a-coming
Better stop and wave goodbye

Ooo-eee, I can feel the sun
Ooo-eee, I can see the sky
Ooo-eee, never knowing the reason why
And if you see that train a-coming
Better stop and wave goodbye

This song was inspired by George Harrison’s last television interview before he passed away. I was moved by a song he sang that had the Ooo-eee thing going on. He spoke about about being one with nature and himself. He spoke about peace and Love and all things in nature having harmony and it moved me to write this song. On the recordings Steve the bass player put in a lead at the last minute that really helped the song in the studio.

The Christmas Tree
Voice Over by Barbara Mount

 Lyrics

Christmas Time in the City (Letourneau)
Drive in from the country
to see all the pretty lights
There’s so many people in the city
And oh so many things to see

(Chorus)
Drove back to the city
It’s something everyone should see
Maybe it’s just meant to be
’cause it’s Christmas time … In the city

Went down to the grocery store
Everyone wearin’ their reindeer hats
Guess that means it’s okay to be
And spread some cheer for all to see

(Chorus)

Was invited to a party
We all had a good time
Met some new friends, found some old friends
Ya know we really had a good time

(Chorus)

Just can’t wait ’til Christmas morning
To see what’s under the tree
Feels just like it used to be
This time it’s made for just you and me

(Chorus x2)

Christmas is Almost Here (Letourneau)
I need a Christmas vacation
‘Cause I’ve worked all year round
There was a time not so long ago
When music filled the air

Got no time for negative thoughts
I’ve walked a… a thousand miles
Gotta make my way, my way back home
Back home to my kind

(Chorus)
Christmas is almost here
Go out and spread some cheer
It ain’t the way it used to be
Christmas comes but once a year

Friends near and far
Drink to your heart’s desire
Give honour to the holy night
And keep on thru ’til Christmas night

(Chorus x 3)

Special Time of Year (Letourneau)
Got a beat up truck
Spent some time listening to the radio
Got a one way ticket
A one way ticket to the real big show

(Chorus)
Waitin’ for my time
Bettin’ on the line
Now put down that shovel and
Stop and wave goodbye

Got too much on the go
Ain’t no use in turning back now
No matter what they say
I’ll just keep on working’ on my dreams

Got my mind on my home
Drivin’ through the snow
Got my radio on high
Not a moment… a moment to spare

(Chorus)

Got some time off work
Gonna sleep in … ’til noon
Got some good ol’ friends who are
Gonna be droppin’ on by

It’s that special time of year
When everyone is near
Wishin’ it could be here
All through the year

(Chorus)

O Holy Night (Public Domain)

The Christmas Tree (Letourneau)
It’s a nice day for a ride
Got everything in the car
Remembered all the details

Even wrote down the directions
We travelled outside the city
To the call, “Are we there yet?”

In the distance we can see
A special place for me
All the cars are parked in one spot

As we head towards the gate
Eagerly awaiting our turn
Horse drawn carriage take you away

The early winter chill fills the air
As we ready our quest
We’re here together as family
To retrieve our centrepiece

In the distance we can see
A little hope to be
Through the path, more than just hope

As we come down to a clearing
We can tell
It’s our Christmas Tree

The early winter chill fills the air
As we ready our quest
We’re here together as family
To retrieve our centrepiece

The early winter chill fills the air
As we ready our quest
We’re here together as family
To retrieve our centrepiece

At Christmas Time (Letourneau)
On a cold and windy night
Warm feeling came over me
Got this feeling I can’t resist
Can’t fight this mystery

On such a dark and distant night
Watch the world stand still
As we discover it’s our turn
To make this alright

(Chorus)
We’ve waited all year ‘round
For this gathering to happen
and would you be mine
At Christmas time

On a snowy December night
You can still see a light
It lights the way back home
To my favourite time of year

(Chorus)

We’ve waited all year ‘round
For this gathering to happen
And would you be mine
At Christmas time

It’s The Eve (Letourneau, Judy & Rob)
Well it’s Christmas Eve and I’m waiting to see
What Santa Clause is gonna bring to me

(Chorus)
Good night, Good night, Good night…

Went to midnight mass and on the way home
‘Bout a quarter to one well it started to snow

(Chorus)

Got all my presents bought
And wrapped under the tree

(Chorus)

The turkey’s in the oven
And the family is comin’

(Chorus)

To all that are here, we wish you good cheer
Have a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

(Chorus x 2)
