Biography
After playing countless numbers of shows since 2004 across the Ottawa Valley and opening for the likes of Jeff Healey and the Five Man Electrical Band, Black Cherry decided to start a new chapter. Changing from something you know and have loved for many years is something that is very difficult to do and the members of Black Cherry are no different. With a plethora of musical tastes and backgrounds ranging from hard rock to folk to pop to jazz and blues, Black Cherry shows no limitations with their writing ability and style. This is emphasized by the fact that in the summer of 2011 they entered and won a song-writing competition for the Ottawa Fat Cats Baseball Team. The team was looking for a theme song to use at their games and for advertisements and they have asked Black Cherry to continue their relationship with them for the 2012 season. In October of 2011 Black Cherry released their 4th CD of original material entitled 'Defying Gravity.
The 11-song CD is a blues-rock flavor and includes an instrumental song, ‘Minuet in the Basement’, as well as the winning theme song, ‘Let’s Go Fat Cats’. The CD has been very well received, and in fact the band has had to place an order for more since selling out the original issue. Presently Two Side Moon Productions in Wales UK is the band’s distributor in Europe which has meant radio play overseas to add to the North American stations presently playing Black Cherry music.
